A guided hunt on a nearby private ranch is an excellent way to make sure that your party enjoys their time out in the brush while also getting the best that the area can offer.

Native whitetail hunts often book in advance, so please inquire when booking so that we can confirm that your dates and hunting party can be accommodated by a local guide and ranch.
While we cannot guarantee you a successful shoot, we can help you get the most opportunities out of your hunting trip.

House rules around firearms
We truly respect our neighbors and also want to make sure that you enjoy your stay with us while you are hunting. To that end, we have rules in place that are strictly enforced. These rules are for the safety of you and your hunting party, as well as our neighbors and friends.
Discharge of Firearms on the Property
Firearms are not to be discharged on or near the property. You will be escorted off the property by local law enforcement if this rule is violated.
Displaying Firearms
All firearms are to be stored either in your vehicle or in the lodge. Any display of firearms around the property will be perceived as a violation of our rules and you will be escorted off the property by local law enforcement.
Firearms Storage
In the main bedroom, there is an enormous walk in closet that we have converted into a secure storage area for your firearms. The doorknob has an electronic passcode that we will give to you upon check-in.
Exterior Surveillance Cameras
The property is equipped with outdoor surveillance cameras that are actively recording and monitoring the property. Footage may be used in the event there is damage, theft, violation of our firearms policy, or trespassing. One camera is at the front door/porch and the other camera is in back/side of the home. Any attempt at disabling, redirecting or obscuring the cameras is prohibited.

Public land hunting
Choke Canyon/Daughtrey WMA, near Calliham, 43 Min Drive from Hindes
Known for being one of the great hunting locations in the Texas State Wildlife Management Area system, it is no wonder that hunting permits are by drawing. You will need to plan ahead, but it is worth it!
This site is primitive so there are no cleaning or refrigeration services on-site.
Archery and rifle hunting for deer, waterfowl, javelina/feral hog, alligator, and spring turkey is available. Please see their website for details and permit requirements.
Chapparal WMA, near Cotulla, 1 Hr Drive from Hindes
Closed to hikers during the hunting season, Chapparal hosts a variety of species including javelina, whitetail deer, quail and several predator species.
Public Hunts are available but you need to arrange ahead of time. Cleaning stations and refrigeration services are available onsite. Click here for more information.
